For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Another osprey swooped down to the nest but the male and female living there wouldn’t let it land.

General Comments: Can you put a camera on this one? The couple was in the nest together for a time. This.nest is my view and I watch it constantly.

Weather Conditions: 69 degrees, sunny, wind from the west ~ 10-12 mph

Other Activity: On adult was perched on the side of the nest. He was looking around and fluffed his wings a few times. He did not appear to be looking down in the next or doing anything in the nest. I did not observe any other activity in the nest. He just remained fairly still - enjoying the beautiful afternoon after a rainy morning.

Observation Method: Vehicle with binoculars at the end of Quincy Street and at Independence Park.

Weather Conditions: 73, partly cloudy, winds 15mph, gusts 28 from W

Observation Method: foot

General Comments: 1 incubating, 2nd landed then moved to perch next to platform. 3rd intruder osprey flew by and 2nd went to nest and spread its wings, intruder left. Then both circling high a few minutes later and one had fish in talons and that one chased other away. Eventually one with fish landed on perch next to platform.

General Comments: 1 incubating, 2nd landed and flew to low perch fairly near nest (not man-made perch). Could just see white head come up for few minutes then disappeared again.

Observation Method: On foot, binoculars, from across Collins Cove

General Comments: Adult head visible above nest rim most of the time. At one point it stood, moved around, and bobbed its head, this took up several minutes, then it resettled

Other Activity: female was in the nest / male was on the lower post and flew up to copulate. Looks as though they are attempting to produce eggs again. I am hoping that will be successful after the loss of the first three.

Other Activity: Every time we go by on the boat one of the Osprey comes flying out of a tree on one side of the river overhead and goes to land on the other side of the river in another tree He must like to perch up there and gets disturbed by our presence. Second Osprey standing in the nest today. I’ve seen them both around a lot recently.
