at: Haverhill

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible:

Number of Fledglings Visible:

Weather Conditions: 82 degrees, 10 mph winds, cloudy with partial sun

Other Activity: One Osprey was visible in the nest when i arrived, standing towards the left and hunched over for a while, then they settled down into the nest with just their head visible. Eventually the second Osprey flew over to the nest with a fish, paused for a moment there with it, and then flew over to the pole on the right to eat it. As (assuming the male) ate the fish, the female sat back on the left side high in the nest visibly watching and waiting for the fish to be brought over. I had to head out for work before the Osprey finished killing the fish and presumably brought the rest to the nest to see if they were feeding chicks, but it seems like a possibility!

Observation Method: Home

General Comments: Been observing Annie, Squam and their chicks so I understand the behavior better. Can’t see in nest, but she’s been eating like crazy (tugged at very tough fish last night). She is in and on the edge of the nest more yesterday and today. She keeps looking down in nest. So still too hard to tell, but since we had a freeze snap, perhaps a delay? Or I’m just impatient. Both male and female are at nest’s edge 3:58 pm. More fish! Female taking a flight break; male in nest. Lovely to see them together.
