For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Two birds present on nest-one female adult and one fledgling who stood the whole time bent forward rather than in an upright stance like the female.No sign of either bird eating.

Other Activity: One adult osprey was observed flying around the harbor and circling the nest. He/she did not return to the next or dive for fish that I observed. One fledgling appeared to be on the edge of the nest flapping his/her wings and also just observing. He/she did not fly off the nest. Then the bird went back down into the nest and only the head was visible
Observation Method: On foot in independence park with binoculars and the observation scope in the park.

Other Activity: I was finally able to see one of the chicks away from the nest. It was perched on a tree near the nest and the other one was perched on the nest. Ollie & Olivia were not around where I could see them.

Other Activity: Nest was empty when I arrived. Around 11:40 a single Osprey showed up next to the nest with a fish. I couldn't tell if it was a juvenile or adult.

General Comments: My chicks have fledged! Finally, a successful nest. Dad was perched while two of the fledglings were hanging out in the nest, then flying off, then returning, back and forth like this for quite a while. So Cool! No sign of the 3rd fledgling. But what a great feeling for me...finally! I'm totally filled with joy! Thanks, Dave, for all you do to make these experiences possible for us.
