Where are Osprey Nesting?

For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Flew from the marsh grass up to the separate pole perch.

Observation Method: On foot with binoculars.

General Comments: One osprey visible that was sitting, facing the wind, on the marsh grass approximately 40 yards from the nest platform.

General Comments: We have been away for 10 days. It seems pretty clear on our return that the female is sitting on eggs. She is consistently low in the nest.

Other Activity: Male sitting on the marsh grass approximately 150 yards from the nest. Then he flew over to the separate pole perch.

Observation Method: On foot with binoculars.

General Comments: Female osprey sitting in the center of the nest during the entire time of my observation.
