For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Observation Method: Hopped over the jersey barrier at the Route 107 pullout area

General Comments: I have now found a better place to view this platform. I formally had gone onto the Wheelabrator property. That is no longer permitted. With this new location, I do not feel that access is required. This platform can be more easily viewed from Mills Ave. off of North Shore Road.

Other Activity: Single osprey sitting on the nest was clearly not incubating. It was more an approaching stance well inside the nest.

Observation Method: Pulled into the rear of the UPS Distribution Center and parked along the far edge of the parking lot

General Comments: I have spoken to the facilities manager at the UPS distribution center, during visits in 2025. His name is Will Robinson. If asked, tell them you are with Greenbelt and that you were monitoring the platforms at the rear of this facility.

Other Activity: Very difficult to tell whether the single osprey was incubating or not. It was sitting on the nest.

Observation Method: Drove to the rear of the UPS distribution center and viewed platform over the fence from the side parking area.

Observation Method: By scope from gazebo on Winter island.

General Comments: One of the dayboards was lost last year and the nest is very small. May not be enough for nesting.
