For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: At first there was just one osprey perched above the nest, and then another landed on the nest. A third osprey was standing on a pole nearby and then started flying around.

General Comments: amazing progress since my last report; the nest has been finished or is close to it; the ospr can now sit on the nest

Weather Conditions: 51 degrees, no wind, clear sky but very light fog down low. Still decent visibility out as far as Round and Babson
Other Activity: 1 adult was perched on the post near the nest, and the other appeared to be incubating in the nest. Initially the light was dim, and it was hard to tell if the one in the nest was perched in the center or lying down. At one point both flew off, but returned very quickly to the post and incubating position in the nest (By then it was light enough to see well.)

Weather Conditions: 51 degrees, no wind, clear sky but very light fog down low. Still decent visibility out as far as Round and Babson
Other Activity: Initially just the female in the nest was barely visible. As it got lighter out, the second osprey was visible perched on the rock near the nest.
