Where are Osprey Nesting?

For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Name: Andrew Sanford

Nest Name:
MAR-02 - Great Aquivitae Daymarker

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2018-06-30
01:16 PM to 01:34 PM
at: Marblehead

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible: 2

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: 73 deg F, se 7 mph, 50 % cloud cover

Other Activity: 1 adult bird visible on nest at “MAR-02 Great Aquivitae Daymarker, Marblehead“ and one nestling when observation started. Soon a second nestling became visible, but generally only one nestling was usually visible and the other only very sporadically. After a while, second adult landed on nest, then one adult left after a bit. At one point, both adults left nest at same time, and then nestlings started to move around a bit more. An adult soon returned. Once or twice, one of the nestlings (I think the one that was usually visible) would flap her wings a few times. Maybe this nestling that was more often visible is the older of the two? Finally, at least once or twice I saw additional movement in the nest that perhaps could indicate a third nestling? I think it's more likely that there are only two, however.
