For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: When I arrived at home there were 7 ospreys circling above the nest platform with lots of loud chirping. There were also two turkey vultures in the circling group as well as a red-tailed hawk. The ospreys milled around with frequent diving attacks without any contact. Eventually one osprey landed on the nest and another joined it briefly before another dove and drove it off the nest. This happened a second time and the two ospreys continued to circle nest. After about half an hour one osprey is left on the nest and all the others have flown off.

Other Activity: I could not tell that any bird was in the nest, it is large and deep - but the gatehouse staffer said he has seen Osprey there recently; one bird was perched on the post near the platform, another was down in the grasses quite a ways north of that

Weather Conditions: 48 degrees, cloudy & overcast, strong wind, high tide, a few sprinkles
Other Activity: 1 Osprey on the nest - incubating posture. 2nd Osprey seen fishing, successful and then delivered fish to the nest, both on the nest and then 1 flew. Other Osprey activity: 2 O's perched near each other on the marsh on the far left of the nest. 1 Osprey perched on a wood post, to the right of the nest. 2 O's soaring to the far right of the nest. All seven could be seen at the same time, as I scanned across the marsh with bins.

General Comments: No ospreys on the brand new platform, to the left of the nest.
