For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: when I first arrived one adult was on the post perch feeding itself from a huge fish, second bird was at side of nest, two chicks in nest feeding themselves! then the bird at the nest began calling, and the bird on the post flew over to the nest with its fish, which the bird at the nest began feeding to three chicks

Other Activity: 1 Osprey on the nest moving sticks, 1 Osprey lands on the nest with a fish and immediately the 2 Ospreys soar off together. 2 more Ospreys join them in flight and all 4 fly off to the left & over the trees. One still has the fish!

Other Activity: 1 Osprey feeding chicks in nest, 1 Osprey sitting on marsh next to nest, 2 Ospreys soaring (one w/a fish) over to the left of the nest & joined by a third soaring Osprey, also 1 Osprey sitting on the marsh in the distance on the right

Other Activity: female feeding chicks, male perched on nest perching post. Three chicks clearly visible on nest. Female feeding smallest one.

Observation Method: from bedroom window

General Comments: I was away for over a week, but seeing three on the nest is really good. Friends report lots of pogies off the beach on PI and Salisbury, so this should make it easy for the osprey to support all three chicks.

Other Activity: When I arrived, one OSPR perched on top rung of tower, OSPR 2 perched on nest. Shortly thereafter, top OSPR flew away and started circling above river with another adult OSPR. Eventually OSPR 3 (the one on the nest) flew away, which enabled me to zoom in for a CU of the nest, and I confirmed there are two nestlings there. Yay!
