Other Activity: female on nest with 3 fledglings and male perched on platform 3. A third osprey approached the nest and the residents made loud warning chirps. The male left his perch and chased the intruder (a female) all around as the intruding female approached the nest many times. Meantime the resident female left the nest and flew across the river while the male chased the intruder. Eventually the intruder flew at a high altitude across the river and the male resumed his perch on platform 3. During the chase the 3 fledglings laid low in the nest and were not visible. About 5 minutes after the intruder was driven away the fledglings stood up in the nest. The female still has not returned to the nest.

Other Activity: one osprey perch and preening on perch pole. Other osprey at edge of nest looking down into it. I saw the tops of a couple of nestlings heads. Osprey flew off and up above Saugus Marsh and River. It apparently spooked a blue heron that I saw take off. All of a sudden the osprey had a fish in its talons....may have taken it from heron. It flew up to nest with the fish.
