For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 66 degrees, mostly sunny, wind 9 mph
Other Activity: Bird 1 on nest with bird 2 perched nearby. Bird 2 flew to nest with fish. Both ate on nest. Possibly feeding offspring, but can't tell for certain. Both birds very attentive to nest. Bird 2 flew to nearby perch, after about 9 minutes. Bird 1 identified as female based on plumage. Female arranged some sticks, walked around and, eventually, settled back down onto nest.

Other Activity: Female appears to be feeding a chick---taking small bits of fish and bending over to offer the food to a chick too small to see. Male is perched on the perch on the platform and is watching the feeding very intently.

Weather Conditions: 57 degF, light to moderate wind from NE, 20% cloud cover
Other Activity: platform nest is empty, but two Osprey are perched near each other on driftwood that overhangs the water; a third Osprey flew across the same area, kept going; quite a ways west there is a platform with a triangular base - may have an Osprey, but distance and heat shimmer are a problem; the nest west of that on a platform with four legs has one Osprey perched on the post, *perhaps* a second Osprey in the nest - distance and heat shimmer a problem
