For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: No birds visible on nest at “MAR-02 Great Aquivitae Daymarker, Marblehead“ at start of observation period. What looked to be an adult flew by a few times (at one point chasing out a herring gull that had landed on nest), landing on little Aquivitae day maker and perching there for a bit. A smaller bird (but what also looked to be an adult?) later brought a stick and added it to the nest. At some point, an osprey landed on a far-off day mark, but too far to tell age, and don’t know it is was the same bird or different.

Other Activity: All five on nest, 3 young eating. Eventually one of the young flew off and another finished eating. The male adult moved in to eat. During this time the female flew off and on several times with nesting material. The second young flew off. Much later, after one of the young returned and left again, the third young flew off as well. Only the two adults remained on the nest.
