For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 65 degF, light breeze from WNW, 80% cloud cover

Other Activity: Chaces Island platform: none at nest, but three Osprey perched on pilings a little east of platform platform west of that, on four posts: one Osprey perched at edge of nest, second Osprey down in marsh grasses nearby and platform west of that one, which looks like a big wood cage with vegetation growing on top: one Osprey perched amid the vegetation on top, two more Osprey down in marsh grasses a little east of that soooo, eight Osprey in area, seen from my observation spot; lots of boating/fishing activity in the water

Other Activity: one Osprey perched on post, then flew up and perched at side of nest; I'm pretty sure a second Osprey was down in the nest - I hope it wasn't just an artifact

Other Activity: first ten minutes no Osprey at nest site or in area; then one flew in, perched at nest edge; second one flew in, third flew in carrying a fish, fourth Osprey flew in; there was a lot of scuffling, wing flapping, circling around the nest, then all four flew away

Other Activity: Osprey in nest appears to be feeding nestlings; other activity included a the second Osprey sometimes on the post perch, sometimes perched at the nest, sometimes away; and at one point two more Osprey strafed the nest and aroused the pair there, but then flew away

General Comments: observations took place during refuge Let's Go Outside day - I was stationed at the Pines Platform to show Osprey to the participants

Other Activity: As usual, the female was here early. The male joined her mid morning. Around noon, they flew off and came back with 2 large fish and had lunch on their respective marsh perches.

Other Activity: Female perched on wire. 10 ft from nest. Male went back and forth with twigs. Female never moved. Nothing happening in the nest except new twigs. Failure?
