For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Weather Conditions: Temp in high 40's & getting colder; sunny; strong, steady wind with occasional very strong gusts
Other Activity: Initially Bird #2 (larger) sat within the nest & Bird #1 (smaller) perched on the nest rim opposite Bird #2. Then #2 hopped onto rim & #1 slid over right next to #2. They sat for about five minutes like this. Then it looked like bird #1 went on top of & behind #2 (copulating?). #1 spread wings intermittently while doing this. Bird #1 flew away for about five minutes & returned to the same position. They repeated the earlier activity for a short time. Then #1 flew away again & did not return before I left the area, which was at least fifteen minutes later. After about five minutes, #2 flew away & did not return.

General Comments: It was exciting to see one bird in the morning and two birds later on the same day. Can we name them?

General Comments: I was at this sight on 3/29 walking my dog and there was a single adult perched on the nest. I actually didn't go there with the expectation of seeing an osprey. I was observing the sea ducks and several loons.
