For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: one adult on post perch, second adult brought in nesting material, then left; two juvs in nest called for food, then re-arranged the branch and settled down to rest; not much later one flew off, circled low to the ground, dropped into the grass; when I looked back at the nest the second juv had flown off as well

Other Activity: After leaving the creek we saw 2 adult osprey and one fledgling in and out of the trees of Choate Island, almost opposite the Great Bank platform. They appeared to be fishing along the island. This was possibly the Soginese Creek family!

Other Activity: Adult perched in tree near nest. I could hear at 2 fledglings calling from out in the marsh, but could not see them. The foliage has become extremely overgrown. After about 1/2 hour, 1 fledgling flew to nest and perched, calling constantly. It was soon joined by fledgling #2. They both called. After about 20 minutes, the two flew off and briefly flew together, then separated. The adult remained perched and did not appear to call, nor did it seem concerned with what the youngsters were doing.
