Female is sitting on nest number one, male is eating a fish on the marsh platform. There is also a female sitting in platform number two. No mail observed. male osprey flew up to perch number one then flew over to Ness number two and proceeded to Mount the female, and went back down to the marsh perch, the lowest one. Female and platform number one is crying, she sees the male over near the other female I do believe we’re gonna have the same scenario as last year. Hopefully we will have at least one successful hatch. He’s going to be a busy guy

The resident female was sitting in the nest and the resident male was perched on platform 3 when another female osprey arrived with nesting material in her talons. She flew toward platform 1 and attempted to land but was intercepted by the resident male who challenged her and kept her from landing. The intruder continued to circle close by and made repeated attempts to land on both platform 1 and 2. She was challenged by both the resident female and the resident male on numerous occasions before flying away, still carrying the nesting material. Since then the resident female has returned to the nest on platform 2 and the resident male is alternately perching on platforms 1 and 3 to defend the territory.

HOPEFULLY this is not going to be the same scenario as last year. Female on nest #1 and male eating fish in marsh perch.....a single female (hopefully not) is bringing her own nesting material on #2 platform and screaming at the male...very similar to last year. Male brought fish to female in #1 let her eat a bit, then flew back down to marsh platform with it. Hmmmm....Now I know typically they go back to their same nest year after year, but how about with last years scenario...these three are breaking the mold!

They left the maple trees, and flew above the marsh and the Parker River, possibly looking for fish. The female went and sat on the nest while the male flew away toward the GDA campus. Perhaps the Mill River, which is also in that direction, is a good place to also look for fish.

Perfect timing !! Arrived to fund female on the platform. Several sticks etc already present. Male arrives at platform about ten minutes later, followed shortly by second mail who perches on out edge of platform. All quiet for a couple of minutes then male #1 helicopters up and lands on male #2’s back -with both feet. #2 does not leave. #1 gets off. Then #1 flies off and returns with stick. Perches next to female. Does this 2 more times. #2 male stays on edge of platform. All 3 the sit.. Then female leaves down river followed shortly by #1 leaving male #2 still, perched on edge.

However, with further observation they both flew away from the nest and returned with materials for the nest. Osprey perched on channel marker above nest. Very still. The bird did not move or change position
On foot on left side of dock and then out at end of dock past restaurant with binoculars. I had to move to the other angle to confirm it was an Osprey due to the rain and the foggy binoculars but when I moved to the other location I could confirm the white head and breast. The bird appeared to be very still except the swiveling of his/her head. There was no other activity in or around the nest.

48 degrees Wind from the south ~ 9 MPH, fully cloudy with steady rain (but lessening).
The adult osprey was perched on the 4th rung up from the ground on the tower. Initially he was actively swiveling his head but appeared to be looking up. This went on for quite some time and then he began swiveling his head but looking more at the ground. Several times (once at 913) he spread his wings and appeared ready to fly off but he did not move from his spot. There was no other activity on or around nest.
In vehicle with binoculars at the end of Osgood Street. Then on foot on the beach.

I could not confirm there were any birds on or around nest. When I moved to observe from Independence Park it did appear that there may have been a white head visible in the nest. Visibility was not great so I was not able to confirm.
In vehicle and on foot with binoculars on beach near Jubilee Yacht club at the end of Water Stree. On foot and in vehicle at Independence Park.

Male perched, flew off briefly then returned. Female deep down in nest, incubating?
Nest has become so deep that female has only the head showing.

Female was squatted down and the male moved around a bit.
Lack of wind and better sighting location gave us a better view of the nest. The nest is also higher and that made it more visible too.

Upon arrival, Mrs. O was on pole 3 from the house enjoying a fish, Mr. O was not visible. I watched her eat for a bit and then started back towards the house, when I turned around I spotted Mr. O atop a phone pole on Ferry Road. He sat there until Mrs. O finished her fish, he then flew off the pole and returned to Mrs. O and mated with her, after he sat for a minute and then flew off, as I turned to head back, I found Mr. O on a different pole on Ferry road with a fish beneath him. Everyone had dinner!

While I was there I took a shot of their nest, it was unsettling to see a large wad of fishing line on the edge of the nest. I hope there is no repeat of the story that Jerry told me about.

One osprey perched, then flew away toward 10 lb island. At around 2:55 pm, 2 adult osprey returned to nest; then one ospry flew down to the exposed seabed under the nest and fetched what appeared to be a large clump of seaweed and brought it back to the nest.

Saw as many as 3 additional osprey (in addition to the original 2 that were on the nest when I arrived) flying and soaring above the marshes, as well as fishing. One dive-bombed another one multiple times. One went back to, and sat on the platform. Couldn't tell gender with all.

I have a very good view of this platform. There has been no building of the nest or any apparent occupants. I believe that if someone saw a bird on this platform it was just checking it out.

Mrs O was on pole number 3 from the house, Mr. O was on pole number one behind the house and appeared to be using this perch to spot fish in the creek below. Although his head did a lot of bobbing, he never went for a fish. Eventually, he flew off and attempted to mount Mrs O on pole number three, then he flew off and came back with talons filled with mud and grass and deposited them on their nest on pole number 2 from the house. Mrs O remained on pole number 3, preening and observing. After fixing up the nest a bit, Mr. O flew over to one of the phone poles looking over the river on Ferry Road. He stayed for a bit and then flew over to pole number three where he attempted again to mate. Several mating attempts were unsuccessful, the male landed on her too far forward, making it impossible to connect. Maybe his first rodeo?! ;)

I have watched for a few weeks, seeing one or sometimes two Osprey on the posts and/or platform. However, each time I see one I check Platform #4 and either see one adult there or none. When I have observed two (rarely) on #2, the #4 platform is empty. I think we have the returned pair from Platform #4 touching down on the #2 platform on and off, but the pair appears to go back to #4 at night. Most of the time #2 platform is empty.
