Looking for a refreshing way to wind down after an invigorating day spent exploring one of Greenbelt’s properties? We’ve got just the answer. Starting next month, you’ll be able to enjoy a pint (or can) of Greenbelt Pilsner, a limited-edition craft beer created in collaboration with True North Ales and inspired by the vital open spaces of Essex County. A portion of all sales will support Greenbelt’s land conservation mission.
This crisp German-style pilsner, brewed with locally harvested wildflower honey, will make its debut at the True North Ales Taproom during a launch celebration on Friday, June 5, from 5:00–7:00pm. In addition to connecting with fellow members of the Greenbelt community, guests can enjoy their beer in a collectible Greenbelt Pilsner glass to take home for an additional $5, while supplies last. Four packs featuring custom-designed labels will also be available for purchase.
“From the start, this collaboration felt like a natural fit,” says Gary Rogers, Founder of True North Ales. “We’ve had a long-standing relationship with Greenbelt that’s rooted in our shared commitment to protecting the environment and strengthening the local community. Supporting Greenbelt’s conservation work benefits everyone who calls this area home.”
The idea for this unique collaboration emerged from Greenbelt’s NextGen Committee, a group representing the next generation of land conservation that shares a passion for stewardship and expanding equitable access to nature. Since launching last year, the group has organized hikes, trail cleanups, and social gatherings designed to build awareness and support for Greenbelt’s mission — all while having some fun along the way.
“Being involved with the NexGen Committee has unlocked some incredibly fulfilling opportunities, and this collaboration with True North Ales is a great example,” says Brendan Pescatore. “We were able to source and create a quality product that incorporates local ingredients and flavors, while also expanding the reach of Greenbelt’s message to a wider audience. It’s been a fun and meaningful way to connect with like-minded people and organizations in the community who care deeply about conservation and making a tangible impact.”
In addition to being available at the launch celebration at True North on June 5 and on tap thereafter while supplies last, Greenbelt Pilsner will also be available at Art in the Barn, Tour de Greenbelt, and select NextGen events, in limited quantities.
