The Go-Getter Trails Challenge is now underway to May 30, 2026
Discover Essex County one trail at a time — coastal overlooks, shaded forest paths, open fields, and peaceful marshland all included. The Go-Getter Challenge is free, easy to join, and designed for every pace and style, whether you’re hiking, biking, running, strolling, snowshoeing, or just taking a quiet wander in nature. And as the Challenge heads into its final months, we’d love to see where you’ve been — share your photos and your trail “coverage” (which properties you visited, your favorite moments, and any posts or stories) so we can celebrate Go-Getters and inspire more people to get outside before it wraps up!
Visit 5 or 25 properties — you're still a Go-Getter! But why stop there? Explore all 50 sites and earn the ultimate bragging rights as a member of the Trailblazer’s Circle!

With more than 50 featured Greenbelt properties to explore, you can set your own pace — whether you visit just a handful or conquer the entire list, you’re officially a Go-Getter! Each trail you trek brings you closer to the natural beauty of Essex County and the vital conservation work that protects it.
Visit 50 out of the 55 listed properties and earn a spot in Greenbelt’s exclusive Trailblazer’s Circle — a special recognition for our most dedicated adventurers!
Everyone who registers will receive an exclusive GreenbeltGo-Getter Challenge sticker — perfect for your water bottle, hiking gear, or car window! You'll also be eligible to win a Go-Getter giveaway!
The GreenbeltGo-Getter Trails Challenge is FREE and open to adventurers of all ages and abilities! Our trails are here for everyone to enjoy — whether you're up for hiking an entire trail system or just taking a short stroll to soak in the view.
From June 7, 2025, to May 30, 2026, explore as many of Greenbelt’s 50 featured properties as you like. Whether you prefer a gentle stroll or a challenging hike, there’s a trail for everyone — and no wrong way to be a Go-Getter! The goal is simple: get outside, have fun, and experience the natural beauty of Essex County.
Remember:
- Only visits during the challenge window count
- Be sure to log your adventures using the property tracker form
- All Greenbelt properties are open from dawn to dusk — and always free to access
In addition to registering as an individual, you can also sign up as a team or affiliated group! Rally your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers — even your book club pals or bowling buddies (creative collectives are encouraged!) — and take on the Go-Getter Challenge together! You don’t have to hike every trail side by side, but sharing the adventure as a team brings a whole new level of fun, motivation, and friendly competition.
Whether you're exploring solo or with a group, every trail counts. So grab your crew and get out there — the more, the merrier!
