Streeter/Old Farm
Thanks to generous community support, Greenbelt has met its fundraising goal to permanently protect the Streeter property — soon to be named the Old Farm Conservation Area. On May 27, 2026, Greenbelt will finalize the acquisition of the property in Wenham, permanently conserving more than 125 acres of forest, farmland, wetlands, and trails. This landscape provides critical wildlife habitat, helps safeguard a public drinking water supply serving nearly 90,000 people, and will open a scenic new trail system for public access for the first time.
The Streeter property encompasses 140 acres and includes two existing homes. Greenbelt has partnered with Historic New England to place a Historic Preservation Restriction on the 1689 National Register-listed main house and its surrounding 15 acres, ensuring its long-term protection before transferring it to a private buyer. In addition, Greenbelt is exploring options for the smaller cottage, including a potential sale that could support an affordable housing opportunity for the community.
