For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One adult on nest (male, I think); just head lifting up occasionally & once or twice got up, shook feathers & settled down again; couldn't tell if both adults were on the nest until 1 1/2 hours later when the other adult (female, I think) flew in and they traded places

Other Activity: 2 Kayakers were near the nest and the female was calling and left the nest and flew around several times. The male returned and flew around and they returned to the nest and perched on the edges. The kayakers left and the female settled back on the nest and the male flew away. When the kayakers landed, I approached them and asked if in the future they would stay away from the channel marker as not to disturb the female and cause her to leave the nest. They said they would avoid it in the future.
