For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: 2 Kayakers were near the nest and the female was calling and left the nest and flew around several times. The male returned and flew around and they returned to the nest and perched on the edges. The kayakers left and the female settled back on the nest and the male flew away. When the kayakers landed, I approached them and asked if in the future they would stay away from the channel marker as not to disturb the female and cause her to leave the nest. They said they would avoid it in the future.

General Comments: Observed one osprey in the nest moving around, no other activity. At 12:25 PM a second osprey arrived at the nest. The first osprey than departed the nest. Due to the distance and angle that we have to the nest, it is impossible to determine if there are any eggs in the nest.

Other Activity: female sitting on nest and male perched on platform 2. Another female osprey approached the male from the rear and dove at him, catching him by surprise. The male then chased the intruding female in circles until she flew away to the northwest.
