For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 58 degrees, refreshingly windy on the marsh, brilliant sunshine, blue skies, water overflowing the creeks, high tide, gorgeous!
Other Activity: Upon my arrival, Adult Osprey on the eggs in the nest, the other adult Osprey sitting on the marsh at the base of the nest. 10 minutes later the one on the marsh flies off. Other Osprey activity includes an Osprey fishing in the creek off to the left of the nest, 2nd attempt is successful and flies off with the fish. One Osprey fishing way off of the right of the nest area, 2nd attempt successful, and flies off to perch in a tree and feeds self. 2 Ospreys seen soaring. A magical Osprey morning!
Observation Method: on foot, down the trial, down onto the marsh
General Comments: So many waders, shore birds, songbirds, soaring birds. GBH, egrets, turkey vulture, great black backed gulls, gulls, among the many species going about their morning.

Other Activity: Male osprey came back to nest and perched down on the grass a few yards from the nest for the duration of our observation. Female was in nest

General Comments: We’ve started to refer to the osprey as Millie and Parker due to the location of their nest at the divergence of the two rivers There was a bald eagle perched on its nest for the entire duration of our visit.
