For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: Bird one was perched on nest, preening, when I arrived. At 09:45 bird 2 flew into nest (no food). Two other adult Ospreys flew into area and bird 2 left nest to perch on nearby snag. Bird 1 remained on nest while bird 2 vocalized . The 2 other birds circled nest area (closely, at times). At 09:53 the other birds appeared to have left the area. Movement was seen on nest. One chick confirmed.

Other Activity: One osprey on perch. The other was high in the nest. Possibly feeding chicks. Later I saw a total of 4 osprey flying around the nest. The pair both left the nest when disturbed by people walking by on three separate occasions.

General Comments: Two adult ospreys very active on the rim of the nest. We have never seen this before so we are assuming there something in the nest. Due to the angle and distance to the nest we are unable to see inside the nest.

Weather Conditions: sunny/clear, 65F, 10 MPH wind, 40-50% humid.
Other Activity: She was probably incubating when I arrived, but she soon seemed to be standing in the nest and feeding herself as her head was going up and down (out of sight), like they look when they're feeding. But I'm just guessing. Anyway, she was alone on the nest, unless she was feeding chicks that were out of view.
