Nest Name:
SAL-01 - Rings Island Platforms

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2020-07-20
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
at: Salisbury

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible:

Number of Fledglings Visible: 3

Weather Conditions: 90 degrees, clear, 10mph SW

Other Activity: Female and 3 fledglings on nest and male perched on platform 2. Female left the nest and brought back a pogie and dropped it in the nest before flying off again. The two larger fledglings fed on the pogie and the third smaller one looked on, but did not compete for food. The two larger fledglings have been flying between the platforms for a week, but the smallest has not flown. It often flaps its wings and gets a foot or so in the air, but then drops back into the nest. It is clearly weaker than the others and is not able to compete with them for food. The adults seem to be just delivering food to the nest now and not feeding the fledglings.

Observation Method: from back porch

General Comments: 2020/07/20

Name: Buster Levesque

Nest Name:
REV-02 - Wonderland Park Light Tower

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Perched

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2020-07-20
01:25 PM to 01:50 PM
at: Revere

Number of Adults Visible: 2

Number of Nestlings Visible: 3

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: 92F, West at 15 mph, partly cloudy

Other Activity: Male perched down below on tower cross beam. Female on nest and chicks alternately below and perched.

Observation Method: on foot by scope

General Comments: While we watched, the female briefly reacted to an osprey overhead that looked like a fledgling. This one turned around and left. I did not count it above since it did not belong to the nest. The light coloring led me to think it was an immature osprey.
