For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: A second osprey arrived. The male is on platform 3 and the female is on platform 2. The male flies to join the female and immediately mates with her. Definitely a pair. They perch on various platforms the rest of the day.

General Comments: When eagles have flown by along the river the local osprey chases and dives on the eagle to drive it away.

General Comments: Ollie showed up like clockwork. He comes on just about the same date every year. This year he will have to build a new nest as the pole and nest that he has used for 10 years was knocked over last year. National Grid put up a new pole and dish for the nest.
