For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. General Comments: single Osprey perched, probably the surviving male after the female killed by eagles. Reports of a second adult Osprey at this nest but I did not see it today.

General Comments: So the nest failed on the 7th, the birds seemingly buried their own eggs by mistake. The pair continues to copulate so perhaps they are going to give it another go. Still fighting with the MBTA pair.

General Comments: Looks like this pairs nest has failed again this year, they have not been in the nest much at all, just keep fighting with the marsh pair and checking out their nest, even landing in it. Something is going on over here, if my memory serves me right this is the 3rd year of not being successful.

Other Activity: So windy it was hard to see. Don't think any osprey on nest. Nest building may have been going on, but also whitish stuff on nest. Feathers?? I hope not. Or something they found to use in the nest? Do they do that?

Weather Conditions: 60 degrees, clear, 15 mph SW

Other Activity: female sitting on eggs on the nest on platform 1. Resident Male flew in with a fish and perched on platform 3 and ate some of the fish. Male then flew to the nest on platform 1 and gave the fish to the female who then flew down to perch on one on the canoe racks in the marsh below the nest. The male sat on the eggs until the female returned after feeding.

General Comments: Wonderful to see this nest being used. One Osprey is banded, the other is not.
