For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: one bird incubating, second bird on post perch feeding self from an enormous fish

Observation Method: on foot

General Comments: this nest is not only huge, but it is 'way off to the side, so that the bulk of the nest where the female is incubating is over the rim (on the south side, I believe)

Other Activity: I came to check on the nest to see where the birds had settled. It seems these two are here to stay at this nest!

General Comments: Initially one Osprey was present in the nest. About 5 minutes into my observation a second Osprey flew to the nest empty handed. The two appeared excited to see each other and after some wing flapping one of the pair left and perched on the post. The other osprey remained in the nest. Earlier this afternoon and Prior to my visit to GLO-3, I walked Mass Ave, which passes quite close to GLO-2. As reported there were 2 osprey in GLO-2. On my return from the beach GLO-2 was empty. I suspect the GLO-3 pair had paid a visit as they did in 2020. I can observe GLO-2 form GLO-3 and was able to confirm GLO-2 was still empty

Other Activity: NoneOne Osprey was perched on rim of nest while the other flew very close buy but did not land on nest of perch while I was observing

General Comments: I I do not believe we have a nesting pair. Likely the two Osprey from GLO-3 visiting GLO-2 as they did late in season last year. My GLO-3 report will explain my reasoning.
