For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. General Comments: Recent behavior suggest possible hatching of chicks: the way the female moves in the nest seems more active than when she was clearly sitting on eggs in previous days.

Weather Conditions: 67 degrees, NNW 10 MPH, mostly cloudy, choppy on the water

Other Activity: From a distance, 1 adult and 1 chick on the nest, and 1 adult on the nearby post were visible. As we got closer, the second adult came into the nest and perched and remained perched behind the other adult and chick. The chick is at least as large as the Brophy chicks, and the body was visible.

Other Activity: One osprey perched on side of nest and the other on marsh perch. Neither took flight when I approached.

Other Activity: This is a CORRECTION to my post. From a distance in the kayak 1 adult and 1 chick appeared to be on the nest and 1 adult was nearby on the post. As we got closer, the second adult came into the nest and perched behind the first. When I reviewed the photos I took, I could clearly see 2 chicks. 1 is noticeably larger, the size of the Brophy chicks or larger. The second chick was in front of one of the adults and wasn't seen through the binoculars in the bobbing kayak.

Weather Conditions: 67 degrees, NNW 10 MPH, mostly cloudy, choppy on the water

Other Activity: From a distance 2 osprey were visible in the nest and a second approached the nest area. One of the adults flew off the 2 started circling the nest area. I did not observe any aggression, but the adult in the nest did get down in an incubating position. Eventually 1 of the adults circling flew off and the second returned to the nest. At a closer distance both stood up, but no chicks were visible.
