For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 82F, 72%humidity, 11 MPH winds, mostly sunny, high tide

Other Activity: OSPR1 perched on nest when OSPR2 arrived with a new branch. For the next few minutes they both tugged and pulled the branch and moved it around the nest. As they did this, another branch fell off the nest. Occasionally, two chicks stirred in the nest. After 5 mins or so, both adults took a break seemed to agree on the current position of the new branch and perched on opposite sides of the nest until I left. Evidently, they decided that their work was done for the day.

General Comments: Both adults on nest, mayube feeding young but too far to know. Great egret landed on ground very close to nest, one adult osprey chased it far away and flew back to nest and landed on perch above nest. It flew down twice and came back both times, no fish in its talons.

General Comments: There was no sign of anyone on the nest or in the area. There are likely no chicks or the adults wouldn't have been away from the nest for so long.
