For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Ollie was in the tree and Olivia & the 3 chicks were on the nest. The chicks were trying out their wings and there was flapping everywhere. They are as big as the adults now and getting ready to fledge.

Other Activity: One osprey perched in the marsh near the nest platform Other osprey flew down from the nest to the water and brought back a fish to the nest. Saw one nestling spreading its wings

Other Activity: The female is feeding 3 fledglings on the nest platform piece by piece. The fledglings are not feeding themselves. The male is perched on platform 2. The fledglings are growing very large and their wing feathers appear fully developed. They are often flapping their wings on the nest, but I have not seen any lift-offs yet.

General Comments: It appears likely that these young birds will be flying soon. This seems very early.

Weather Conditions: 64 degrees. rain

Other Activity: Lift-off! One of the fledglings flapped its wings rapidly for a while and then harder and lifted off the nest to perch on the perching post and then lifted off again and landed back on the nest. This is the first time I've seen this this year. The female and 3 fledglings are in the nest and the male is perched on the perching post on platform 2, his favorite perching location.

Other Activity: one chick flexed its wings but was hidden below the nest rim; a 2nd adult OSPR flew in and landed on a lower rung
