For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: After observing the empty nest for 10 minutes, a male landed and perched on top of the nest. He stayed there for 10 minutes and then flew generally northwest over the marsh. He flew slowly in a generally northwest direction in S-shaped patterns, mostly gliding. I was able to follow him for about 8 minutes until he was about a mile from the nest and disappeared into the thin clouds. I watched the nest for another 15 minutes but he did not reappear in that time.

General Comments: Next time I will try to be there at or near low tide so I can get to Smith Island which is a bit closer to the platform.
