For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: MId forties, breeze, clear sky
Other Activity: Female on platform, male on perch post. Group of turkey vultures got interested in carrion about 20 ft from platform. Vultures kept passing over/close to platform. Finally male flew to platform and then deliberately dropped down over vultures who scattered. One vulture returned to ground leaving both osprey on platform watOnching other circling above.

General Comments: This is the first time I saw one in the nest as opposed to on a nearby tree limb. Because of the distance and limitation of binoculars, I couldn’t tell if it was the same osprey I had previously seen only in trees

Other Activity: Male sitting alternatively on the separate perch pole and the nest platform. Female not present.
Observation Method: On foot with binoculars.
General Comments: Female flew back with a fish, and landed on the perch pole, and started to eat it. Male was pushing sticks around on the nest platform.
