For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 27° and perfect day blue skies, nice breeze, viewing from the Paint Factory on Rocky Neck.
Other Activity: 1 adult Ospry moving around, probably taking a break from incubating, looks like they’ve been rearranging the nest because part of it is hanging down on the 10 lb island side. From this distance I can’t tell whether they’re feeding or not, but they’re clearly interacting with each other. The male is standing, walking around. Although I can’t confirm for sure, because I can’t see that well from this distance, I’m quite confident that the male is fulfilling his obligation as the bread winner or fish winner for his family. It all looks quite normal, but who knows what goes on behind feathered doors.

Other Activity: The female was on the nest & then another arrived & flew around. The nest is very high on top of the pole & very deep so any chicks were not visible until they are bigger.

Other Activity: three nestlings seen with dad in the nest, mom on marsh perch. Nestlings flapping their wings. Mom seen bringing in branches...three times at least. I took some photos of her. Not sure if at a certain age of the nestling, the parents take on different duties.

Other Activity: Came back to make sure male was doing his part of feeding his big brood...he came in with a small fish and took a minute to rest before heading out again and saw him flying high in the sky. Female and all three nestlings fed. Good night!

Other Activity: Came back down without my dog and wanted to see what was happening with the male on the marsh perch . He flew up to the platform and was there for 10 minutes when I was there the first time this morning. He is still there but on the marsh perch now. Some nesting material on the platform but not 100% it was already there. We will see, maybe he is just visiting.
