For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: The female of this pair has been roosting for close to a month, regularly rotating direction to face into the wind. Male stands off nearby, periodically disappearing to forage.

Other Activity: Both osprey were on nest looking inside. Male took off to check me out as I approached. Normally they don't take off from this nest when I approach. Possibly guarding nestlings.

Weather Conditions: 53 degrees, sun coming up, little wind

Other Activity: Pauline is awake and looking to the sky for Bob. She is nestled on the nest. Last night at dusk, two female deer walked by the platform and out of no where, Bob came swooping in and tried to peck their heads. After several iterations of that, the deer took off and ran through the marsh. After last years loss of chicks to an owl, I guess Bob has learned to be very aggressive.
