For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: first perched on platform 1 by the river and then flew to old nest on platform 2 , then flew away toward the river

General Comments: Yesterday counted 72 seals hauled out on Half-tide rocks. Must be plenty of fish around.

Weather Conditions: about 60 degrees, SW 15, partly sunny

Other Activity: Initially there was no osprey at the platform. Then, while walking the dune trail boardwalk, we spotted 2 osprey flying and hovering above the Hellcat Dike area. One had a fish. When we got out to the dike, 1 osprey was on the platform and 1 was flying back and forth over us and about the Bill Forward pool. We later saw a 3rd osprey on up near Lot 1, over the marsh.

General Comments: This nest is in need of some repair. I know it is privately owned and would be a shame to have it come down during nesting season, especially because this nest seems to be active all the time. The top nest structure looks quite tilted.
