at: Salisbury
Number of Adults Visible: 4
Number of Nestlings Visible: 0
Number of Fledglings Visible: 0
Weather Conditions: 50 degrees, cloudy & showers, light SE
Other Activity: There has been alot of recent fighting around the nest. Yesterday 6 adults were fighting most of the day. Today 4 were fighting and 2 must have locked in combat in the air and fallen into the marsh. We saw two on the ground below platform 1. One was moving a little and the other looked knocked out or dead. I sent an email to Dave Rimmer to report this and by the time I returned to the window both had taken off and flown away. Afterward, 2 were perched on the nest on platform 1 and 1 was perched on platform 3 and another on platform 4.
Observation Method: from bedroom window
General Comments: There has been lots of contention over the nest site. A few days ago the male and female were on the nest and another female hovered very close above them without provoking an attack. Later in the day all 3 were perched together on the nest for some time. That was something I'd never seen before. A relative?
