For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Female is sitting deep in the nest on platform 2. Male was perched on platform 1 and a second female osprey flew toward platform 1 and hovered over the perched male. He took off and chased the intruding female away.

General Comments: An intruding female appears frequently and the resident male chases her away.

Other Activity: The second adult was in the marsh near the nest. Another osprey was perched nearby, on the top of a dead tree between Round and Choate Island, and near the top of the tree is a collection of sticks.

Other Activity: On the way back from Dean Platform, I could see there were 2 osprey on Brophy, so I paddled to the norith end of Dean and looked. The bird on the left side was perched in the nest at the edge and looking and then leaning down several times. The second osprey was perched at the edge. After a few minutes, the bird on the left flew out and the female, I assume, returned to incubating eggs or perhaps chicks now.

Other Activity: Two observations First 11:30-12:20 - Female perched very low in the nest, hardly visible; just pops her head up from time to time - waited 50 minutes to see if the male would show up but he didn’t. Second 1:30-2:00 Went back to viewing platform after going for a walk; the male was perched on the nest, then on a branch nearby; female still low in the nest cup but she did stand up briefly.
