For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Initially 1 adult was visible on the nest calling, and the second was holding a fish on a post in the marsh. The second flew over and landed with the fish, and the nestling popped up and was visible. Both adults remained on the nest, and 1 of the adults appeared to be feeding the nestling.

Other Activity: When I arrived female was perched on the edge of the nest. Chicks head can be observed occasionally above the nest cup. After fifteen minutes female began to vocalize. Another adult osprey flew in from Merrimac River side of nest, soaring over stadium field. Female flew off nest, met male and both flew off toward river. Ten minutes later female returned and began feeding the chick. At 1133 the chick observed perched outside the nest on cross bar. Mom and baby back in nest at 11:37.

General Comments: When I arrived, the adults were just switching places and the male settled into the nest. He was poking around and just looking down , possibly chicks have hatched. Female flew off to stretch her wings.

General Comments: Again, I can see that the adult is on the nest, moving around . Assuming chicks have hatched. Adult perched in the tree to the right. I hope some one else is able to get closer to check for chicks.
