For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: The male osprey flew in as we approached the nest to check us out. He never landed on the nest. He ended up in the trees on the nearby island.

Observation Method: boat

General Comments: I am slightly worried that this nest has failed for some reason. It has always been active with 2 birds but the last couple of times I have only seen the male in the area.

General Comments: This nest seems to have gotten smaller. Much less nesting material is on the platform. Possibly damaged by the constant winds.

Other Activity: The one osprey was perched on the side of the nest constantly looking into the nest. At one point I believe I spotted a nestling but can't be sure.

Other Activity: This location has several herons nests as well and we observed several herons flying to and from their nests. Excellent.viewing location for kids!
