For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One bird was incubating eggs and the other came back to the nest without food, so she chirped at him and he flew off again. He was nearby but didn't bring back a fish.

Other Activity: Communicating with each other. One in nest one perched below on the tower

General Comments: 4 pm seems a good time to view them. Usually there is a fish involved.

Weather Conditions: Partly cloudy, 64 degrees, light wind

Other Activity: Male was eating good sized fish on light stand adjacent to nest stand. Brought remainder to the nest and female popped up. She took it to a third light stand. Eventually sge returned to nest and male stood. I have noticed he is guarding the nest much more than in past years presumably due to the interloper we’ve seen. Also many eagles in this area now.

Other Activity: One osprey was on the nest the entire time. The second one arrived toward the end of the time and brought a fish. They both ate, and then the second osprey flew off again.

Observation Method: On foot with spotting scope.

Other Activity: Initially one osprey was perched on the nest. Then one flew in carrying marsh grass/hay and dropped it into the nest and landed. Both remained at the nest with one in the middle possibly arranging the material.
