Weather Conditions: Approx. 40*f with winds at 9mph. Setting Sun/fading light.

Other Activity: 1 Adult Bald Eagle was observed just sitting there. This is the third time I’ve observed. First was approx. 2 weeks before. Second time was on Christmas Day in the morning (~9am).

Observation Method: First time and this time I was in a car. The second sighting (Christmas Day) was by foot walking the dog. Observed with the naked eye.

General Comments: Very little head movement all three times so I thought it was a decoy to dispel smaller nuisance birds, but it’s not always there. Was glad to have found there’s a nest known and on the same light pole I observed!

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Other (specify below)

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2022-09-05
07:00 AM to 01:00 PM
at: Ipswich

Number of Adults Visible: 0

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 1

Weather Conditions: rain and wind

Other Activity: Fledgling perched on nest

Observation Method: From house

General Comments: This is the last of the fledglings for this nest. This individual has continued to spend long periods on the nest. The other fledglings were last seen several weeks ago. An adult, presumably the male, has continued to provide a fish once or twice a day. The fledgling makes periodic short flights throughout the day, and occasionally it goes for more extended periods. It is not clear that this bird has returned to the nest with a fish it caught on its own.
