For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: Kept checking in on nest: 8:16am, then around 10, noon, 1pm up to 5:00pm. For most of that time I saw both adults on the nest. At 4:25pm I noted an adult on the pole nearest the marsh; he/she was eating a fish. It appears to me that some re-arrangement of nesting materials has taken place.

Weather Conditions: 58 degrees, sunny with light breeze..High tide

Other Activity: When I first arrived, the female was sitting on nest #2, flew away then moved to #1. Male flew in. Both sitting on the nest...male was bowed down as female called a lot. She finally moved up to the nest perch and he mounted her. Almost immediately after that, he went to the marsh at least 5 times grabbing marsh grass to bring back to the nest.
