For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: When I arrived there were three Osprey, one on the nest, one eating fish on the marsh perch and an intruder (female) trying to get the other female off the nest. The male went after her and escorted her off the area for a bit. About 20 minutes late she came back, with nesting material...Again he escorted her away. Then a Red Tailed Hawk wanted to check things out...That is one busy guy protecting his girl. He moved to the other perch with his fish again....interesting morning.

Other Activity: We saw several blue herons in nests nearby. Since the last visit on 3/31/24, it appears a blue heron has started building a nest near or on the same dead snag where the osprey nest was last year. The osprey was perched in close proximity to the heron nest.
