For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 45 degrees, cloudy light east

Other Activity: Female sitting deep in the nest on eggs on platform 2. The male landed on the nest, the female stood up and flew off and the male took her place sitting on the eggs.

Observation Method: from bedroom window

General Comments: later in the day I saw a mature bald eagle flying up the river close to the Salisbury side. The make osprey flew above the eage and gave chase, eventually diving down toward the eagle which turned on its side and threatened the osprey as it flew past.

Other Activity: This female continues to stay alone on the nest alone. She sits as if she is sitting on eggs, which is still possible since the male in platform #1 has been mating with her as he did again tonight.

Other Activity: Male sat preening on marsh perch for quite some time then flew up to the nest for a few moments. He then went back to the perch and flew over to nest #2, where he proceeded to mate with the female. He them flew of about 7pm. He did not come back.

General Comments: Single osprey sitting low in nest. The mate did not return during my observation

General Comments: Initially lone osprey spotted low in nest. About 15 minutes later the second osprey returned, empty handed, and perched in the dead tree near by.
