Other Activity: When I arrived the female osprey was in the nest, alerting that the floater was nearby. They made a few laps around the nest and flew off, no sign of the male osprey. Ann joined me at this point and we saw some very interesting activity. One of the nestlings was stretching his wings and was more visible and active than the other one. The female osprey left the nest and was gone for about twenty minutes, she did not return with any fish. She began to alert and the floater started to fly through the area, not getting too close to the nest. Another osprey started flying in from the stadium direction, holding a fish, and landed on a pole behind the nest. With the floater still flying around, the female osprey left the nest and flew towards the osprey with the fish, where it became apparent this was not her mate, but seemingly another floater, and a short, somewhat intense chase ensued before they took off still holding the fish and the female returned back to the nest. Given how often we see a third Osprey flying around the nest, Ann and I thought it made sense that this might not always be the same one and there is likely a fourth one in the area. Some time passed before the male osprey returned to the nest with a fish, dropped it off at the nest, and flew back off towards the river. The female osprey fed the larger, likely older baby first, before feeding the smaller one on her other side.

General Comments: One adult Osprey in tree perch, second adult on nest rim. One nestling clearly observed. The head of A second nestling may have made a brief appearance above the rim of the nest but I could not confirm. I returned to the nest be Rely at approximately 3:30pm hoping to confirm a second nestling and I could not.

Other Activity: the adult flew away, chick flexed its wings just before mama returned and it looks like definitely two chicks, very busy after mama returned, so probably feeding; at 3:40 all the activity subsided. The chicks settled below in the nest; the adult still there, perched, stationary. The second adult never appeared.

Other Activity: Both ospreys were on the nest when I arrived. They were both perched, not sitting. I could hear one of them vocalizing. After 10 minutes one osprey flew off. The other flew off a minute or two later.
Observation Method: On foot with spotting scope.
