For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: There was lots of flapping from the nestling/fledgling and it got a little air. The adult was in the nest calling constantly. The adult was hit with the wing action a couple of times, and then took off chasing a great egret and then gulls away from the area before returning to the nest.

Weather Conditions: warm (~70F) and still. Clear skies.

Other Activity: Observed the nestling in the nest by itself, stretching wings. The 2 parents were on a boat nearby, eating fish. One came up to the nest to feed the nestling, and the other followed a little while later. If the chick hasn't fledged yet, he is due soon, he's very big!

Observation Method: On foot from Independence Park jetty.

Other Activity: The 2 chicks have fledged. They were flapping their wings and got some air under them and created a snowstorm of white feathers . Unfortunately it appears that the chick that Sean & Mark found on the ground while they were tagging them & that they put back in the nest has not survived. I’ve only seen 2 chicks for the last few days.
