For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: Cloudy, no wind, warm

Other Activity: One adult and two smaller osprey visible. The smaller birds fluffed their wings multiple times but did not move from the nest at all. They appeared to be getting quite a bit bigger from the last time I observed them and were slightly lighter in color than the larger adult bird.

Observation Method: On foot at the end of Osgood St with binoculars.

General Comments: Wanted to confirm the nest had not been damaged by the severe overnight thunderstorms. The family seemed to be intact. Did not see the other adult osprey anywhere nearby.

Weather Conditions: Cloudy, warm, very little to no wind

Other Activity: Both birds were visible in nest and appeared to be adults. One moved up above nest on to top of transmission tower.

Observation Method: On foot at the end of March St with binoculars

General Comments: Checking to ensure the severe thunderstorms the night before had not damaged the nest and that the birds were still there and active. Did not see any chicks but the adults did appear to be looking down in the nest.
