Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2023-07-31
7:15 PM to 7:45 PM
at: Beverly

Number of Adults Visible: 1

Number of Nestlings Visible:

Number of Fledglings Visible: 1

Weather Conditions: Calm, warm (75-ish)

Other Activity: Observed what I thought was an empty nest at first, and 1 adult perched on a boat nearby. However, the adult started calling and then flew low and deliberately as if to call the young one out of the nest. He poked his head up and at first just looked around. After some time, the adult flew higher and away. The fledgling did some hop-flaps and then launched off the nest, doing a small loop before going back to the nest. I don't know if this was its first flight, but certainly just getting the hang of the flying thing...

Observation Method: On foot from Independence Park
