For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: The parking attendant was very animated about the two “eagles”. Finally was able to confirm his sightings were osprey - from last year. (2023) He described osprey swooping down and carrying away rabbits. I do not discount the authenticity of his reporting.

General Comments: So the mail Osprey is sitting on platform number two. I’m sitting on the edge. Doing a little preening It looks like he’s got full crop. I’m sure he must be tired having just come in. So exciting to see him. I am hoping that Ness number one will be back too

Observation Method: In my car on Middle Road with binoculars and further downstream on the Parker River on foot with binoculars near the new Alfond Science Center at The Governor's Academy.

General Comments: Perhaps it would be a good idea to build up some sticks and such there. It does not look as though there is any nest material on the platform.
