For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Last year, Pauline began sitting on the nest on April 22nd. This year she began on April 18th. They are definitely on a mission!

Weather Conditions: 48 degrees, Wind ~ 9 MPH from the South. Full cloud cover, drizzling. Rain was beginning to lessen.

Other Activity: I could not confirm there were any birds on or around nest. When I moved to observe from Independence Park it did appear that there may have been a white head visible in the nest. Visibility was not great so I was not able to confirm.

Observation Method: In vehicle and on foot with binoculars on beach near Jubilee Yacht club at the end of Water Stree. On foot and in vehicle at Independence Park.

General Comments: Two osprey were on the nest. The "jungle" that was growing on the nest last year and earlier this year was gone.

Weather Conditions: 59 degrees; breezy; cloudy; tide half in.

Other Activity: Saw as many as 3 additional osprey (in addition to the original 2 that were on the nest when I arrived) flying and soaring above the marshes, as well as fishing. One dive-bombed another one multiple times. One went back to, and sat on the platform. Couldn't tell gender with all.

Observation Method: On foot next to my car on Middle Road with binoculars.

General Comments: More material has been brought to the platform, so that it is all about half a foot thick.

Other Activity: female Osprey was seen sitting in the water below the nesting platform. After about two minutes she flew back up into the nest. A few minutes later another Osprey was flying over the Bill forward pool, heading towards the nesting platform, but it circled and headed North towards the Overlook.

General Comments: Today was the first time I saw pair on the nest for quite a while. One was bringing in sticks. Both were perched and looking around. Both flew around the area. One went off toward the river.
