For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: Appeared as though anther prey flew over and circled for a few minutes. Non 100 % sure it was a spray but didn’t look like anything else. Huge white egret was perched and then took off. Beautiful in flight.

General Comments: The entire time I was observing (25 minutes) the female was standing, not tending to eggs at all. Then she started doing a bit of housekeeping while the male snoozed on the perch.

General Comments: Two adult osprey have built a nest near the blue heron nest we observed during our last visit. Blue heron's have since built 3 more nests in the area making it 8 in total.

General Comments: Lack of wind and better sighting location gave us a better view of the nest. The nest is also higher and that made it more visible too.

Weather Conditions: 48 degrees, Wind ~ 8MPH from South, 100% cloud cover, steady rain
Other Activity: Osprey perched on channel marker above nest. Very still. The bird did not move or change position
Observation Method: On foot on left side of dock and then out at end of dock past restaurant with binoculars. I had to move to the other angle to confirm it was an Osprey due to the rain and the foggy binoculars but when I moved to the other location I could confirm the white head and breast. The bird appeared to be very still except the swiveling of his/her head. There was no other activity in or around the nest.
